The South East of England is very well connected. Located at the heart of the UK’s transportation networks, facilitating easy access for domestic and overseas visitors to and within the Region.

Air

Air: The Region is served by two of the world’s busiest airports, Heathrow and Gatwick, bringing millions of passengers to the South East. Southampton International Airport boasts the shortest plane to train connection in Europe. All three airports are directly accessible by road and rail links from any location in the South East.

Sea

Sea: The Channel Tunnel and 11 seaports including four container ports and two cruise ports provide access by sea to and from anywhere in the world.

Road

Road: With 22% of the England motorway network, the South East is supported by 12 motorway’s including the M2, M25, M27 and M3, providing fast access both to and around the Region.

Rail

Rail: InterCity services offer fast, frequent connections within the South East to London and other Regional centres in the UK. Express rail links connect airports, ports and major cities, with the Channel Tunnel providing fast rail connections with Europe through the International rail stations at Ashford and Ebsfleet (2007) in Kent.
