TSE is the body responsible for the development and promotion of tourism across the South East. Working with partner organisations, TSE’s remit is to develop the tourism economy in line with the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) economic strategy. We exist to provide vision and a sense of purpose to a vital industry made up of diverse interests and stakeholders. TSE has the pan-regional contacts and links to provide extensive, impartial, confidential and free advice. Where hotel companies have strict criteria in terms of identifying and acquiring sites for new hotel development, TSE has gone some way to increasing awareness of these criteria and requirements by producing guidance for local authorities on attracting hotel investment. In order to drive more pro-active sustainable hotel development in the region, TSE has worked with partners since 2001 to provide hotel developers with :
- SE hotel performance and trend data;
- Suitable, deliverable site opportunities in the SE;
- Facilitated introductions to local stakeholders;
- Support in the planning application process - where there is evidenced demand.

TSE is the lead regional tourist board for tourism training in England. The Training Services department, working through and with sub-regional co-ordinators and partners across the South East, offers a wide range of advice, guidance/ information and training specifically geared to the tourism industry.
The team is also involved in delivering a variety of projects and initiatives, which enable tourism businesses to access cost effective and tailored training solutions to meet individual and business needs. These are mainly delivered through sector specific specialist advisors and facilitators through a mix of one-to-one visits/one day participative workshops and learning sessions and where applicable through on-line provision.
TSE also offer the Welcome to Excellence national suite of customer care programmes and some of the one day individual courses can now be used towards gaining a level 2 qualification (www.welcometoexcellence.co.uk).
We are constantly developing and adding to our portfolio of products and services. In most instances, these are delivered on a local basis across the whole of the SE Region and funding subsidies may be available.
